Weird

Before I start on my horrendously big pile of homework, I finally had a relaxing day yesterday.

Sports day. A bit disappointing that Romanis came in last, and I felt kinda bad for Debbie who was trying to make everyone cheer along with the house councilors, poor them. The crowd was quite dead, but then again it was a bloody humid day (just like every other day anyway) so cheering wasn’t exactly what we were totally excited to do.

Afterwards we finally had a class outing, half of us watched Street Kings (The guys didn’t know what it was about. “It’s a manly show!” was their reason for watching) and the other half watched The Forbidden Kingdom. I really wanted to watch Funny Games though.

Street Kings. Um…

It looked really appealing at first because I saw Hugh Laurie’s face plastered on the 10 feet tall poster. Alas, he only appeared for a total of maybe 15-20 minutes in the movie.

I just thought the whole movie plot was… weird. It was exactly like the movie Shattered. Strange mysterious things happen at first, then as the movie progresses, something fishy will happen and it turns out that the protagonist is being backstabbed by everyone who was helping him/her. Last 10-20 minutes - Climax, bad guys reveal their plan to sabotage the protagonist. Just like that.

Now the last part was the weirdest. That’s what happens when a good actor like Forest Whitaker delivers cheesy lines like, “To me you’re family” and “The money doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to us!” I dunno, I was just having a super weirded-out moment. I know that he was just trying to bribe the Keanu Reeves dude into not killing him but… Argh it was just really weird, I don’t know how to explain it.

And of course Keanu Reeves killed everyone and he didn’t die.

DROWNING IN HOMEWORK!!!!!

Sing-stupid-tel

Thanks to Sing-stupid-tel, I haven’t been able to access the internet for weeks! (Okay, maybe just one and a half weeks) There were so many happening things which made me think, “Omg, can’t wait to blog about this,” but the novelty of the events are gone now so… yeah.

One crappy thing that did happen though was TK’s band losing to Deyi’s for the best display band award, after winning it for 10 years. Major stink. Although most of us agreed that TK’s band wasn’t too good this year (too showy I think. Chinese temple doors and paintings?!) but it’s still easier to sulk.

I wonder why GP seems to be loved by all my friends from other schools, it’s like their favorite subject. Right now it’s the bane of my existence, along with Chinese. I think the reason is mostly because of my teacher, I don’t get him at all. I really don’t get why we have to learn all the technical terms for all kinds of arguments and learn how to pick them out or whatever. I also hate this whole, “Think outside the box,” rubbish. To “think outside the box” is thinking ‘inside’ the box, it’s a stupid paradox.

Occasionally we get fun essay questions to do like whether commercialism distorts the value of art, but sometimes we get stupid topics like to what extent are parents responsible for their children’s actions. ARGH, I don’t know how to describe it but it’s bloody annoying.

I also hate it when the teacher keeps asking us what are the writer’s key arguments and its premises, blah blah. I don’t get why we have to stick to this format of thinking and evaluating. Everything besides the content is fixed, sometimes I feel like I’m in a Maths class or something.

Teacher: So what’s the writer’s key argument in this article? *classmate’s name*

Classmate: *insert answer*

Teacher: No, that’s not correct. *insert rambling*

Wtf.

Another annoying thing that’s been happening is well, annoying people. Sometimes I feel like I’m doing all the dirty work which people keep pushing me to do, if they can help it. Okay, the term ‘dirty work’ isn’t right, just tasks. I don’t mind doing these tasks, but I hate the way they shirk away from responsibility and shift it off to somebody else if they could help it. It’s sickening, like I can see this little person in them shrinking and shirking away and making subtle winces. Sometimes I try to make excuses to not do the tasks just to spite them and force them to do it on their own, but in the end I lose out too because these ‘tasks’ involve me as well. And these tasks aren’t even scary or difficult. They simply involve some initiative. But they’re too scared to do that, I don’t understand what’s so frightening about talking to a person.

Sorry if it sounds ambiguous but I can’t really identify the problem here because the person I’m bitching about reads this blog.

I guess I’m sort of having a semi-bad time. I think I get too stressed out over little problems involving friends. It’s so difficult to maintain friendships, because whenever I get too close to someone I start hating him/her. I don’t know why that happens, it’s a shame, but it happens. That’s what makes things so complicated because I don’t know whether to stick to the friend or just move on.

Okay well, I’m off to do my PI (cutting down to 550 words is impossible) and a mountain of other homework.
